Architecting the Web of Things with Mozilla's WebThings gateway and PWAs at VIT, Chennai

Date : October 22, 2019

I was invited as a guest speaker at VIT, chennai to deliver a guest lecture on open source tools for IoT applications for M.Tech students. The event was organized by VIT's computer science and engineering department and nearly 50 students participated  to enhance their knowledge. I covered the topics on open source platforms like postman, node js, raspberry pi, Mozilla Web Things gateway and encouraged students to develop various prototypes as a part of their curriculum. I also covered major IoT protocols used for today's IoT applications with their pros and cons.

At the end, there was a demo session where I explained Mozilla's Web of Things project to them mentioning the ease of use and the privacy which they can get through such platforms. I also encouraged students to try such platforms and contribute to Mozilla Community by developing addons, reporting bugs as an active user. I also introduced them the benefits of using single page Progressive Web Apps(PWA) and how it is a game changer in today's modern web. Some of the good moments of the events were captured too.!!
